Soundcloud Removes Silent Track For Copyright Infringement

You all must be aware of Soundcloud’s stringent laws in removing tracks for copyright infringement, which has irked a number of DJs and producers due to their remixes or mashups being taken down. But what Soundcloudhas done now is perhaps its most outrageous move yet.

D.J Detweiler recently shared a copyright takedown notice from Soundcloud, for his remix of John Cage’s “4’33“, which is just 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence. Soundcloud, without even listening to the “remix”, took it down and sent him the following notice.

While DJ Detweiler‘s move was indeed an troll, it does raise valid questions on Soundcloud’s copyright infringement policy and the shortcuts they’re taking to download soundcloud songs directly.
